WCSIT Minutes

The 12:00 meeting was held in X150.
Eight members were in attendance: Ann Blackman, Kendra Stratton, Linda Crowley, Karina Pavlova, Shreederi Kota, Kasey Kerr, Lisa Shea and Laura Cosner.
 

Karina proposed three levels of club participation. Participation in club events such as meetings, fundraising, high school visits, display case, etc will earn points. Levels are achieved with the accumulation of points earned. Everyone in attendance voted to accept the idea. Karina will work on point values. Laura volunteered to create certificates.

Six members in attendance are interested in going on the tour of Plastic Pak. Members of PCSCS have been invited to join us. The tour will have a maximum of 15 to 20 people. Once Karina arranges a time, we will have a first-come, first-served sign up

Lisa Shea has created a web site http://www.girlyteck.com for girls in technology. She would like to add more information about scholarships for Women in Technology. Please let her know if you have information to add.

The WCS Club at the U of I has invited clubs from the colleges and universities involved in the NSF Grant to the Siebel Center on Saturday, September 17. Six members have already committed to attending. If you would like to attend and weren’t at last Thursday’s meeting, please let Ann know A.S.A.P. (Please note: The meeting starts at 10:00. I incorrectly stated to be there at 11:00).

PCSCS meets every Thursday at noon. Changing the WCSIT meeting times is not a good option because we would interfere with other classes and work schedules. Because we are meeting every other week members interested in both clubs will be able to attend PCSCS twice a month.

TourIT is an event hosted by CSIT. High school students from district 505 will be attending Parkland on Friday, December 2 from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm. We need club members to volunteer. Free pizza to all volunteers!

WCSIT will hold pizza sales from 10:00-1:30 on October 7, November 4, and November 21. Volunteers are needed and anyone wishing to participate should contact Ann or Karina with their availability.
