WCSIT MinutesRespectfully submitted by Waylena McCully, secretary.
The 12:00 meeting was held in X150.
Five were in attendance: Marlene Long, Kasey Kerr, Kendra Stratton, Waylena
McCully, and Nancy Withrow.
RSVPs: Marlene (mlong@stu.parkland.edu) needs to know who is attending the meeting
this Monday, February 14th. She needs your RSVP by Wednesday, February 9th.
Food sales: Our last pizza sale brought in $328.23 for the club. The next pizza sale will be February 25th. Members who wish to purchase a whole pizza at cost need to tell Ann Blackman (ablackman@parkland.edu or 351-2414) by the day BEFORE the sale. If you don't let Ann know by the day before, you'll have to buy your pizza at the regular price.
Food sale opportunity: On Saturday, February 19th, the club will be setting up a table at the math contest here at Parkland. We will be selling sodas, popcorn, and candy bars. Help is needed between 10:00am and 2:00pm.
Mind, Body, and Spirit: Members who would like to attend the "Mind, Body, and Spirit" conference on the morning of Saturday, February 26th can attend for FREE! This event takes place between 8:30am and 11:30am in D244. To attend for FREE, RSVP to Ann before noon THIS FRIDAY, February 11th. See attached flyer for more information about this event.
Elections: We still need to elect a Co-Treasurer. Nancy Withrow is the only candidate. To formalize your vote, get it in to Ann by March 14th. The Co-Treasurer: is responsible for fund-raising efforts and any funds raised, physically makes payments for any group expenses, helps count money after fundraising events.
We also still need nominations for Co-Secretary. The official duties of Secretary are: to take minutes during the formal weekly meetings, to keep and maintain the minutes, to send minutes to the members via email, and to be responsible for any written communications between the group and another entity. [Note: we need someone to take minutes on 2/28/05, 4/14/05, and 5/5/05] Get those nominations in to Ann. Thanks!
Committees: It's time to form some committees! If you would like to join the Scholarship Committee, contact Marlene. The committee needs to set up the criterion for the scholarship. The scholarship then needs to get approved by our faculty advisor, Ann Blackman, before it can be advertised.
If you would like to join the Website Committee, contact chairwoman Kasey Kerr (kkerr@parkland.edu). Committee members will be responsible for providing content and keeping the information updated.
Spring Break: If you're heading off to some exotic destination, good for you. If your stuck in town with everyone else, how about a Bowling Party? It would probably take place on the Wednesday of Spring Break, exact date and time open for discussion and TBA. Stay tuned.
Finally, a repeat REMINDER: Marlene needs to know who is coming to the Monday, February 14th meeting. And she needs to know by the preceding Wednesday, February 9th.
