Games for Girls 2007...

The fourth annual University of Illinois ChicTech Retreat and Games 4 Girls Competition is nearing and it's time to get your thinking caps on ladies!

Studies show that children who play computer games increase their understanding of knowledge structures, spatial intelligence and cogitative ability, acquire more experience and are more likely to participate in computer classes. Thus, the Games 4 Girls competition aims to create games that appeal to middle and high school aged girls and encourage and support their involvement in a society that is so technically driven and dependant.

In 2005, three teams from Parkland College proudly earned first place, second place, and honorable mention and a combined total of $14,500 in cold, hard, glorious cash for themselves, WCSIT, and the CSIT department. Yes, ladies, the prize is big and if money motivates you, this will knock your socks off! Each member of the first place team received $1,000 and the second place team each received $500. Cash aside, this is an excellent opportunity to showcase your creative and technical abilities and inspire future generations of girls to get involved in technology.
